Historical moment for the Tribunal. First dispute lodged with the Tribunal by a Malawian citizen based in Blantyre , Malawi.
5th- 18th August, 2007
The President, the Registrar, the Finance and Administration Officer and the Personal Assistant to the Registrar attended the 27th Ordinary SADC Summit of Heads of State or Government in Lusaka, Zambia. The President of the Tribunal presented to Summit a progress report on the operationalisation of the Tribunal. During the Summit, proposed amendments to the Protocol on Tribunal and the Trade Protocol were signed by the Heads of State or Government.
24th -27th July, 2007
The Registrar presented a paper titled “How to access the SADC Tribunal” during the Human Rights Development Initiative (HRDI) Training Programme in Pretoria, South Africa. The training drew together lawyers from Botswana, Kenya, Namibia and Tanzania.

The President and the Registrar of the SADC Tribunal participated in Commonwealth Meetings of Justices and Registrars of Final/Regional Appellate Courts in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, the Hague, Netherlands and London the United Kingdom. Also in attendance were the following institutions; ECOWAS Court of Justice, COMESA Court of Justice, the Caribbean Court of Justice, The High Court of Australia, The Supreme Court of Canada and the Commonwealth Secretariat.
During these meetings, the delegation visited the following institutions; the International Court of Justice (ICJ) , the European Court of Justice (ECJ), the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY), the House of Lords and the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.
25th -29th June, 2007
The President and the Registrar of the Tribunal attended the Meeting of SADC Ministers of Justice/Attorneys - General in Maseru, Kingdom of Lesotho. Amongst other things the meeting recommended to Summit the amendment of the Protocol on the SADC Tribunal and the Protocol on Trade.
